From very humble beginnings in the City of London in 1844, the YMCA has grown to become a worldwide organisation with 45 million members in 125 countries.
Since it was established, the YMCA has adapted to meet the needs of today’s young people and works with young men and women regardless of race, religion or culture. In every corner of the world, the YMCA is helping young people to build a future. The work we do everyday impacts on the lives of young people and their families in the local community.
YMCA Fairthorne Group was formed in 2002 and has since supported hundreds of thousands of children and young people across the south. As a children’s charity it is essential that we regularly review and adapt our services to ensure we meet people’s needs as individuals and communities develop.
Our mission is to ‘champion and add value to young lives by providing experiences that challenge, enable and develop the individual.’
YMCA Fairthorne Group’s staff and trustee team are working towards an ambitious 5 years of sustained and quality growth as outlined in our Strategic Plan, which is informed by our concept of working the YMCA Way.
The YMCA Way brings together our values and our mission to deliver outstanding services. The YMCA Way is underpinned by the Search Institute’s 40 Developmental Assets. This research explores the influences and actions that affect and support children’s development both within and outside the family. YMCA Fairthorne Group is very excited by this research as it not only demonstrates that what we do genuinely adds value to the lives of the young people we work with but it will also inform all our planning going forward. The 40 Developmental Assets focus on family as well as individuals and supports our understanding of the importance of shared family experiences. Over the next 5 years we will focus our work to reflect the importance of working with the whole family to support children and young people.
Our values: listening, caring, welcoming, exciting, inspiring , active

Our contoured practice range offers a great variety of targets and greens with bunkers, all illuminated by flood lights in the evenings. The short game facility boast both a contoured putting green and chipping and bunker green, for those wanting to perfect their skills.
Dynamo Gymnastics is situated on the Hamble Community Sports College Campus, a dual use facility for both the local community and the Sports College facility.
The creation of the gymnastics centre was supported by Sport England, EBC, HCC, HCSC and British Gymnastics. This purpose built gymnastics centre is in daily use by the Hamble Community Sports College students and the members of the Dynamo School of Gymnastics.
The current dedicated gymnastics centre is 35m long and 25m wide. It is fully equipped to Federation International Gymnastics (FIG) standards for both male and female artistic gymnastics. It has foam filled safety pits for the safe development of world class gymnastics.
The sports complex is able to support the work of the gymnastics centre in the provision of changing facilities, social areas, first aid room and staffed reception. In the event of large competitions the gymnasts are able to use the complex sports hall and mirrored dance studio as these both have sprung wooden floors.
2012 saw the completion of Dynamo’s most recent extension project. Once again with the support of EBC and British Gymnastics, the target was to increase working space for new pre-school gymnasts. The dedicated pre-school studio space was created to meet these demands and to provide additional specialised fundamental movement sessions.
In addition to the pre-school space, Dynamo has also erected a new viewing gallery and has made improvements to existing facilities, most notably by extending the vault run up to meet the International Gymnastics Federation’s (FIG) standards of 25 metres. This has meant that Dynamo was able to host the Singapore National Team in the lead up to London 2012!
We train every Wednesday evening 7pm – 9pm and welcome new players.
Please feel free to pop down to see us play or talk to some of the players if you would like to play for us, otherwise come and watch a game for some adrenaline filled entertainment.
Wyvern Dragons is a thriving, friendly badminton club. We started out back in 1999 when we were formed by two of our members, Julie Pithers and Alan Knights.
Whilst we’re definitely competitive, we also put an emphasis on having fun and hold regular social events including a Christmas meal and a summer BBQ.
We play badminton every Friday night, from 8pm to 10pm @ Wyvern Technology College, followed by a trip to our local pub to relax afterwards.
Within the membership fee we include coaching with our excellent Head coach, Sunil Bali. We currently have two coaches that are qualified to Badminton England level 2.
A warm welcome to all our Tri-Athletes and especially to any New Starters. Last year, just as we said, it was a terrific year for Chapel Tri. We observed more and more Chapel members at events and competitions up and down the country. Some outside our country! It is fair to say that the “Castle Series” has been dominated by our Athletes. Watch out “Castle Series” as more will compete in 2014!
With the increase in membership, we have been lucky to aquire an experienced Coach and we will also be gaining new Level 1 & 2 Coaches within the structure of our club. This will be a trying start to the year but the benefits will out weigh the difficult transition. It’s now down to you to put the work and effort in over the next few training months, to have the best preparation for the start of the Triathlon season in 2014.
We all have different strengths and capabilities. You can only but try your best. The most important objective is to ENJOY it.
Chapel Tri is still growing at a remarkable rate, and we are working hard to make sure you all benefit and achieve your own personal goals. But remember, ENJOY it!!
